Moto Monday | NINETEEN

Hello Everyone!

We're back with an all new Moto Monday for you guys! By now, I'm sure everyone is now back at school! I hope it was a wonderful week and I hope you have amazing professors! This is going to be our year! I can feel it! I hope that this Moto Monday can make your week that much greater! :)

1. to move // From Walker to Runner: 8 - Week Plan // This is something that is perfect for someone who wants to run, but doesn't know how/where to start. It can be found right here.

2.  to eat // Indoor S'mores // Here in Texas, we've been getting some chilly weather! These will be sure to warm up your taste buds. The recipe can be found right here

3. to do // Catch up on TV // If you're like me and have been slacking on watching some of the new shows this season, now's the time to catch up! The semester just started, there's little to no homework! Parks and Rec, HERE I COME!

4. to wear // Vest // It may not be cold enough to wear a vest in Texas right now (considering the bipolar weather) but it is a great piece to own for those days the weather is spot on!

5. to make // DIY Fresh Flower Framed Mirror // This mirror is absolutely gorgeous! It is a great and easy way to add a little spark to your dorm room or your room at home! The DIY can be found here! I'm eager to try this one out myself!

It may be hard to let go of some negative things, but once you do, it will feel so amazing! I know it may be easier said than done, but if you at least give it a try, you will see some great results!

Have a wonderful week!

Throwback Thrusday: AZ // NV // UT

Hello Everyone!

This is post is basically 6 months overdue! I was so busy last semester that I just never had the time to actually upload my pictures! So I finally selected some of my favorite pictures and put them together for this post!

My family and I did a mini road trip around Arizona, Nevada, and Utah over the summer and I have to say, it was breathtaking! Here are some of my favorite pictures from the trip:

My overall favorite places were the Grand Canyon and Antelope Canyon! I can't express how absolutely breathtaking those two places were! I mean everywhere we went looked awesome but if you have the chance...go to those two places! Also, if you plan on taking a road trip any time soon I HIGHLY recommend the site/app Roadtrippers. It gives you a greater look on where landmarks/parks/restaurants are. It may even show you places you never knew existed!

Places Visited:

AZ:
Phoenix | Flagstaff | Sedona | Page |Snoopy on a Rocket | Hoover Dam | Grand Canyon | Antelope Canyon | Bedrock City | Lake Mead | Chapel of the Holy Cross

NV:
Las Vegas | Ceasar's Palace | New York, New York | Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign | Golden Nugget | Old Las Vegas Strip | New Las Vegas Strip |

UT:
Kanab | Moqui Cave | Zion National Park

I'm sure we went to more locations, I just can't think of them at the top of my head right now! I hope you all get a chance to see these amazing places!

MOTO Monday // Eighteen

Welcome back to yet another Monday here on Poppy Whiskers! The last time I wrote a Moto Monday it was the start of our Fall semester and here I am about to start my spring semester! Yikes! Well, it is also a new year and I have some wonderful ways to stay cozy and try new things - so let's get started! :)

1. to move // 30 Day Yoga Challenge // I mentioned earlier how one of my resolutions is to start yoga with no previous experience. This post is the perfect way to start giving you a little bit of yoga at a time to build your confidence and comfortability with something new. Find it here.

2. to eat // Avocado Chicken Suiza Enchiladas // These enchiladas look so delicious and comforting for these cold winter months. I cannot wait to make some of these and pile my plate high :)

3. to do // Organize your closet // this is probably a weekend project (maybe even more!) but even if it takes time I know it would be completely worth it. Have you ever cleaned your closet before? I have tried many times but this time I am ready to get rid of the old... to make room for the new!

4. to wear // Large cozy jacket // I love this very simple outfit (especially for the start of school) paired with a super bright and comfortable jacket. You could mix and match many outfits similar to this. Keep those solid basics and hold on to a few of those stand out pieces while organizing your closet!

5. to make // DIY Gold Log Candle Holders // these are a super fun way to bring some nice scents into your home or cut out bigger holes to create pencil holders! Switch up the colors or keep it classy and gold!

One thing to always keep in mind is how far you've come while reminding yourself how far you can still go. I often forget that I can easily change my attitude mid-day by staying positive or looking on the bright side!

A + A's 2015 Resolutions

Angela's resolutions:
Surprisingly, it has been two weeks into January and I have yet to start any of my resolutions BUT that has not discouraged me from losing sight of my 2015 goals. Spending the first week in a different state and the second week recovering from four wisdom teeth extractions I have had absolutely no desire to start my resolutions. I am still so anxious and excited to being working on my own goals. It doesn't matter if you start two weeks, one month, or six months after January 1st - if you are determined to set goals for yourself, you can start and succeed anytime!

Here are my top five goals:

1. Daily Smoothies - I was blessed with a Vitamix from my mom this holiday and I am absolutely in love with it! I want to learn the art of smoothie and juice making - filling my body up with many nutrients while drinking a delicious beverage :)

2. Learn Yoga - I have always been in love with the idea of yoga but I have never gained the courage to attend a few classes because I have no idea where to start. This year I am determined to sign up for some classes and build mental and physical strength.

3. Cut out the fast food - this one is important to me because it was my resolution last year as well, and I was quite successful last year. It wasn't until the second half of the year that I began eating fast food again but I am determined to cut it out completely and see how it affects my body while reaping the benefits.

4. Keep things exciting - with stress from school this past year I felt I have lost sight of my amazing relationship with Roger whom I don't know how hasn't left me because of how boring I have been. This is a resolution for myself and a promise to him that I want to bring more exciting, spontaneous, and courageous moments to our relationship. More surprises, more kisses, and more love!!

5. Declutter my LIFE - there are so many things in my home, my head, and in my life that are filling up and I need to clean it out and really enjoy everything that I have. My closet is filled to the brim, I am on too many social media websites, I have too many old notebooks. To declutter my mind starts by decluttering my home and giving my life minimalistic views. I cannot wait for this one and I will keep you updated on how I do it!

Amanda's resolutions:
Going into 2015 I knew there were some necessary goals that I needed. I feel that I am in a place in my life that I can truly fulfill each of my goals! While I've been working on some of my goals, I also have yet to start some of them. I think you can start goals at any time of your life, some people (like me) just like the extra push of starting with the new year or on a monday or so on...Just like Angela said, you can start at any time! Angela has wonderful goals listed above and I think they're all great, she has some of mine listed (fast food, yoga, smoothies...basically all of them)...so I'm just going to list five that I have.

Here they are:

1. Become more Positive - I say this literally every year, but I think it is something that I truly need. I feel that I sometimes get negative with school or with stress or different things. I just need to learn to let go of negativity and hatred and just be happy and positive. I've been working on this by keeping a little journal on my blog. It helps me de-stress and it helps me get rid of any negativity I have.

2. Learn to Cook - What can I say? I've been inspired by MasterChef Junior! Something about seeing 8 - 12 year olds cook fabulous meals makes me want to learn to cook various things! I want to cook everything! Maybe I'll even take a class this year or something! Also, look at Queen Bey cooking, doesn't that just inspire you? (This also includes trying new foods...If you know me, you know I'm horrible with trying new food)

3. Friendships - This is kind of a broad one and it comes in two parts. One: I want to do more fun and adventurous things with my friends and have wonderful experiences. Two: I want to make more of an effort to see the friends that I'm not constantly around meaning my friends like Angela and other friends that I don't see as often! I just think I'm so lucky to have these people in my life and I need to show them that appreciation! (If you guys are reading this, I love you)

4. Take Care of Myself - What I mean by this is that I want to make sure that I'm eating well, I'm taking the vitamins I need, I'm getting enough sleep...and so on. I just think that I haven't been taking care of myself as well as I should. I just really want to be on top of those things! I think this would also include loving myself. I know that sounds weird but I just want to stop thinking less of myself and become more confident!

5. Explore - I want to take on my city and discover places I've never been, whether it's a new restaurant or a new attraction, anything. I also wouldn't mind taking a little trip with some friends. I went on one mini roadtrip last semester and it was honestly such an amazing experience! I absolutely loved it! I also really desperately want to visit one of my best friends in New York City, so that's one of my main goals! I'm hoping to visit by the end of the semester!
